Hacked website repair and malware removal
Redirects, spam pages, Google warnings or a suspended site? We investigate properly, remove the malware and hidden backdoors, fix the vulnerability that let them in and harden the site so it stays clean.
What should I do if my website has been hacked?
Do not delete files or restore an old backup yet. Change your hosting and admin passwords from a clean device, note what you are seeing and when it started, and get the site investigated so the entry point and any backdoors are found, as well as the visible damage. Cyberstore handles WordPress, Joomla and custom sites; call 1300 566 652 for urgent help.
// What we do
We remove more than the visible hack
Many hacked websites have more than one point of compromise. Removing the page that first caught your eye can leave a hidden backdoor in place. We look for the whole pattern: altered core files, compromised plugins, unknown administrators, injected scripts and server-side files that do not belong.
Hack investigation
We inspect files, database, extensions and configuration for signs of compromise and likely attack paths.
Malware and web shell removal
Malicious files, injected scripts and backdoors carefully removed, with clean replacements for compromised components.
Website recovery
If a clean backup exists we assess whether restoring is safest. If not, we repair the live system.
Post-hack hardening
Updates, permission fixes, admin account review and login security so the next attempt fails.
// Our process
How we repair a hacked website
- 01
Contain
We lock down hosting and admin access, preserve evidence and stop the site harming visitors, without destroying what we need to investigate.
- 02
Investigate
Files, database, extensions, server configuration and logs are inspected for injected code, web shells, rogue accounts and the original way in.
- 03
Clean and repair
Malicious code, backdoors and unknown accounts are removed. Compromised core files and extensions are replaced with clean versions.
- 04
Close the entry point
The vulnerable plugin, weak credential or misconfiguration that let the attacker in is fixed, so the same hack cannot simply repeat.
- 05
Harden and verify
Software is updated, permissions corrected, MFA and login protection added, and the site is rescanned and monitored after go-live.
- 06

// FAQ
Common questions
How do I know if my website has been hacked?
Common signs are unexpected redirects, spam pages showing in Google, browser or Google malware warnings, unknown admin accounts, files changing on their own, your host suspending the site, or visitors reporting strange downloads. Some hacks show no visible signs at all.
Should I restore an old backup?
Only after the entry point has been found. Restoring a backup brings back the same vulnerability, and if the backup was taken after the compromise it can bring back the backdoor too. We check backups before using them.
How long does a hacked website repair take?
Simple infections can be cleaned the same day. Sites with several backdoors, a compromised database or no usable backup can take two to three days. We give you an honest estimate after the first look.
Will Google remove the warning on my site?
Once the site is clean, we request a review through Google Search Console. Reviews usually clear within a few days. We also check for spam pages Google has already indexed and help get them removed.
Do I need to tell anyone about the hack?
If personal information may have been accessed and your organisation is covered by the Privacy Act, you may need to notify the OAIC and affected people. We help you work out whether data was exposed so you can make that call properly.
